Call for veteran study participants

Are you a Veteran? Have you had concussions and/or a traumatic brain injury - an injury to your head or neck that caused you to lose consciousness or feel dazed/confused/experience a gap in memory? Your participation in research could help inform the future of TBI treatment for fellow Veterans.

The Late Effects of TBI (LETBI) study team is seeking veterans who are at least one-year post-military service and are willing and able to participate in a 4-5 hour study visit in EITHER New York City OR Seattle, Washington. You will be compensated for your time and provided with a modest stipend to cover travel to the study sight by car, bus, or train. Scroll below the poster for more information.

Our colleagues at the Brain Injury Research Center of Mount Sinai partnered with veterans to identify an important gap in current brain health research: almost every prior study of TBI in military service members recruits exclusively from military TBI care facilities. Many veterans sustained TBIs that were never diagnosed or treated, which means the results of these studies may not apply to a substantial proportion of Veterans living with TBI. This research team is dedicated to understanding the long-term effects of TBI in ALL veterans - including those who have not received care. To make this possible, they are recruiting from the community in collaboration with organizations such as ours.

The Late Effects of TBI (LETBI) study team is currently seeking military veterans who are at least one-year post-military service and are willing and able to participate in a 4-5 hour study visit in EITHER New York City OR Seattle, Washington (a collaborating study site). A study visit will include a brief set of thinking tests, an interview with surveys, a blood draw, and an MRI scan. Participants will be compensated for their time spent participating in the study, as well as modest support for travel (e.g., ground transportation to the study site) upon request. Participants are asked to consider brain donation at the end of life.
