Rebecca Denniss
Rebecca Denniss has an MSc in cognitive neuroscience and is currently a doctoral researcher at Sheffield Hallam University in the UK, under the supervision of Dr. Lynne Barker, Dr. Catherine Day, and Dr. Paul Richardson. Rebecca is investigating the potential for micronutrient interventions to improve cognition following traumatic brain injury. She is also an associate lecturer at the university teaching psychology, neuropathology and cognitive neuroscience at undergraduate and Masters level. Previously Rebecca worked as an assistant psychologist in a neuro-rehabilitation unit developing cognitive rehabilitation strategies for individuals with acquired and traumatic brain injuries.
Rebecca’s main research focus is to improve the long-term outcomes for those with traumatic brain injuries in a number of ways:
Better understanding of brain changes following injury.
The role of diet and supplementation in ameliorating damaging effects of the secondary biochemical cascade following head injury.
Improving detection and subsequent referral of concussion, both in individuals and in the medical profession.
Rebecca was also part of the team winning the Medipex NHS Innovation Award in 2015 for a novel tablet-based cooking task currently in further development.
